According to people (他们), most office workers start looking for a new job come the new year. That’s because everyone has collected their AWS (or never) and are ready to look for greener pastures.
Here are the four telltale signs your colleague has begun looking for that greener pasture.
MC and leaves
When a colleagues starts going missing from work, you know something is amiss. Granted, he might be suffering from work fatigue or some celebration hangover or seriously ill, repeated absence could mean repeated presence at interviews.
Attire
If a colleague suddenly turns up for work in formal attire, it could mean two things. Either he/she has a hot date after work or an interview at lunchtime or in the evening. This often happens when the colleague knows about the earlier point and is playing reverse psychology or he/she is conserving leaves to encash or to “clear leaves at one shot”.
Distance
Perhaps to soften the blow of bidding emotional goodbyes to close colleagues, some office workers choose to keep a distance once they are in a hunt for a new job. It could well also be because they are beginning to feel disillusioned with the current workplace or even resentful with the pay, work or certain colleagues.
Attitude
The final obvious sign you will soon be saying goodbye to a colleague is when he/she has a change in work attitude. The colleague may become blatantly lazy at work or simply become bo chap. Either way, these are signs that a change of environment is on their cards.
So when you get back to work in 2016, look out for these signs and start preparing your farewell lunches. Or if you know of other telltale signs, drop a note in the comments below.
