That’s what I expected. We all feel overworked. We all feel overwhelmed, at least some of the time. (Even if by other people’s standards we have it easy, we still feel overworked.)

Effectively managing our professional and personal lives is a problem we all struggle with. Maybe that’s because we look outside ourselves for solutions: software, apps, devices, time management systems, etc.

All of those can help, but as Scott Eblin, author of Overworked and Overwhelmed: The Mindfulness Alternative

The Plain

The Plain1

The Plain is a cafe along Craig Road. Its external facade is so ..er… plain, that you can easily walk past without noticing it.

Once inside, the simply decorated cafe exudes an air of tranquility. Simple dishes are on offer and we understand that their sandwiches are well regarded by the office workers in the neighbourhood. We only stopped by for coffee. The cappuccino was smooth and well made. We would have preferred a stronger taste though. After your visit you may wish to drop in at the antique store next door which stocks all kinds of interesting stuff.

2. The pale blue sky, the summer rays and deep blue ocean.

Nothing feels more ‘alive’ than sitting on the beach and just taking in everything around you — that fresh and liberating feeling of admiring Nature as Time gives you halted seconds of beauty.

3. The love, care and support from our parents.

Parents are our most crucial lifelines. They are there from kids until we grow old, and will never stop supporting us until we reach our dreams. You can call them a nagger, but they will always be your greatest source of strength.

4. The high school friends who were there throughout the years.

Makan Place - Mr Wong’s Seremban Beef Noodles

Originally posted on tourist in my own land:

Beef noodles is a very interesting food item since it has so many different sources and variations, there is the Taiwanese version (the kind you see with cup noodles), the Vietnamese version (like the one in So Pho), the Chinese Hui and Tang versions etc. In Singapore there is the Hainanese version.

There is also the Seremban version. Seremban is the capital of Negri Sembilan state in Malaysia. A certain Mr Wong brought the Seremban flavour to Singapore and has a popular outlet at the Marine Parade Food Centre.

We had just left East Coast Park and decided to have an early dinner. The store was manned by two Chinese staff, I reckon the owner doesn’t cook everyday, but no matter. If the boss confident enough in them then the standard should be comparable.

At the side of the store are plastered many reports attesting to the uniqueness of…
